It is compulsory for children to attend school from the age of 6 years. Children who reach the age of five years, on or before April 30, may commence school in February of that year, however it is advisable to discuss with the Kindergarten teacher the ‘readiness’ of your child to begin school, especially if your child’s birthday falls near April 30.
The following procedures are required when enrolling your child:
- Complete an Enrolment Form (available from our school office)
- Provide proof of your child’s age (birth certificate or passport)
- Provide Certificate of Immunisation (either from the Australian Childhood Immunisation Register [Phone: 1800 653 809] or from Medicare)
2019 Prep Enrolments
School Tours: Tours for parents of children commencing school in 2019 will commence from 27th February 2018 and run throughout the year. They are conducted on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9:30am, and are booked by telephoning the school office on 9759 6222.
Enrolment forms may be collected from the school office. It is preferable that all prospective Prep students are enrolled by the end of Term 3 (21st September) to ensure their inclusion in the Transition and Orientation Programs.
Please be advised that enrolments for other year levels can be accepted throughout the year.
2019 Prep Transition Program
Pre-school children sessions
We will be running a series of transition sessions during Terms 3 and 4 – dates are still to be confirmed.
We will be running two parent sessions in 2018 – one information session mid-year open to all parents, and a further session in November for parents of children enrolled in Karoo for 2019.
Any new environment can be a little overwhelming and schools are no different. The Department of Education site offers general advice about how best to prepare families for this important step into school. For further information, please click on the Starting Primary School heading above.
