Student Health

Promoting health, supporting student health care needs and reducing health risks are important to everyone at our school.

There is a fully equipped first aid room in the school, manned by first aid trained staff each day from 8.45am to 3.45pm. All staff are trained in anaphylaxis.

If your child has a specific health condition, please contact the school office so we can work together to manage the condition while the child is at school.

Karoo has a rule of ‘No hat, No play’ in Term 1 and 4. Students must wear either a school legionnaire hat or school broad brimmed hat whenever they are outdoors, including for class activities outside and at outdoor assemblies.  Staff also wear either a brimmed hat or use an umbrella when outside, to model the required behaviour.

Student Wellbeing

Our aim is to develop a school environment which is safe, flexible, inclusive and fosters collaboration. In order for this to occur, we support our students through the following personnel and programs:

DET School Counsellor
School counsellors work with students of all ages, and their families, throughout their school years. The school counsellor can also assist students who may be feeling extremely sad or anxious. It is important to seek help early if you notice any major change in your child’s behaviour. By appointment only.

Student Wellbeing Officer
Providing wellbeing support to students experiencing a range of needs. The Student Wellbeing Officer works from a therapeutic framework to support students, and aims to promote a whole school approach to wellbeing within the school community through working in collaboration with students, parents, school staff and outside support services.
