Karoo Primary School focuses on developing our students in the skills and knowledge required to be successful in the 21st century. For this reason, we have ensured our school is highly resourced in up to date Digital Technologies (DT). DT is embedded throughout the entire curriculum and is used to promote student engagement, motivation and assist them in achieving their best. Students are supported in the use of DT to develop their ability in problem solving, critical thinking, creativity, expression and communication. Importantly, we use various ways to assist the students in developing the understanding of the implications of the use of ICT and their social and ethical responsibilities as users of DT and the Internet. Our focus at Karoo Primary School is not on DT but learning in DT, to assist the students in focusing on the task rather than the technology they are using to complete the work.
We ensure that our program, use and learning of DT follows the proposed Scope and Sequence of the Victorian Curriculum – Digital Technologies.
Our technology rich classrooms, including the Art room and Music rooms are equipped with interactive touch screens, desktop computers, printers, scanners, digital cameras, digital video cameras, digital microscopes and access to a range of both Apple and PC devices, such as iPads, allow for all children (Prep – Year 6) to be involved in a vast array of learning and teaching opportunities that can be made ever more engaging through the use of DT.
