Karoo is a school that values and appreciates the support and participation of the wider school community. The staff are dedicated and enthusiastic in their endeavour to ensure the best outcomes possible for every student.
At Karoo, we have a strong Wellbeing focus. One initiative involves the Year 5 and Foundation students participating in a Buddy Program. These sessions are most beneficial in helping our Foundation students settle into the school community and enables our Year 5s to develop leadership and mentoring skills.
In line with our Wellbeing programs, our students learn and play in a safe environment at Karoo.
Students are also committed to the Karoo School Values of Respect, Honesty, Tolerance and Understanding, Responsibility, Integrity and Excellence. These values are an integral part of our school oath.
We have highly professional staff who personalise learning, ensuring success for all students. Our teachers are enthusiastic, dedicated and effective educators who stimulate and challenge student thinking and problem solving. Our teachers communicate respectfully with students, parents and the community.
We have an exceptional Foundation program implementing Discovery (Play based learning) and Structured Learning.
In Foundation, we follow a whole school approach to learning, including initiatives such as CAFE Reading, Oral Language and a strong focus on problem solving and number.
We have outstanding facilities, resources and playgrounds including a designated Foundation Playground. Karoo offers a breadth of extra-curricular programs. During their time at Karoo, students have the opportunity to participate in sports events, music including choirs and the State School Spectacular, support and extension, ICT, camps, student wellbeing and lunchtime clubs.
As a staff, we encourage and appreciate parent involvement in the classroom and in the wider school community. We have a enthusiastic and passionate KPA (Karoo Parent’s Association) and a caring school community.
